Promotion and incentive ideas - Top 10 summer staycations

10th August 2017

We can almost guarantee that August brings good weather to the UK. So to help you make the most of the summer sun, we've put together a list of our favourite summer staycations. We've thrown in a mix of cool cities, coastal escapes and epic drives so there's sure to be a break to suit. These destinations would all make great promotion and incentive prizes.

Promotion & incentive ideas - Portmeirion, Wales

Round House in Portmeirion

Portmeirion, Wales

The small village of Portmeirion looks more like it belongs in the Mediterranean than in North Wales. The village was built by an eccentric architecture who wanted to bring a European vibe to the valleys. Portmeirion's colourful facades, intricate architecture and cobbled streets are reminiscent of Italy. You can easily spend a few days in the area, exploring the coastal and woodland walks with a gelato in hand. To really make the most of your visit though, be sure to stay in one of the cottages within the village itself. Day visitors are only permitted on site from 9:30 am, so you'll have the village almost to yourself if you're an early bird.

Promotion & incentive ideas - The New Forest, England

Bolderwood Arboretum Ornamental Drive in the New Forest

The New Forest, England

The New Forest is a charming location for a short break. From the quaint villages of Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst to the cosy country pubs, there's plenty to explore. This is also the perfect location for an active break. Hike or cycle your way around the forest and you might be lucky enough to spot the resident ponies, donkeys or deer. If a touch of luxury is more your style, you can't go wrong with a stay at the Lime Wood Hotel. The hotel has everything you need to relax and unwind. The spa includes two pools, a mud house, a sauna and even a rooftop garden and rooftop gym.

Promotion & incentive ideas - Carrick-a-Rede, Northern Ireland

Rope bridge at Carrick-a-Rede

Causeway Coastal Route, Northern Ireland

The Causeway Coastal Route is one of Northern Ireland's most scenic drives. Stretching between the cities of Belfast and Derry, the road explores castles, coasts and country parks. Popular stops en route are the famous rocks of the Giant's Causeway, the exhilarating walk across Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and the breathtaking ruins of Dunluce Castle. You can also make a stop at the Dark Hedges, made famous by Game of Thrones. One of my favourite stops along this route though, is a little less well-known. Hidden in the Glens of Antrim is Glenariff Forest Park, where a short hike takes you to a series of beautiful waterfalls. It's a peaceful spot where you'll find few other visitors and is well worth the detour.

Titanic Hotel Liverpool | TripAdvisor

Liverpool, England

Liverpool is one of the UK's coolest cities and makes a great location for a weekend away. The city is full of culture, with the largest collection of museums and galleries outside of London. You can explore the city's maritime history or take a trip on The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour. There's also a vibrant food and drink scene here, with some of the best nightlife in the country. One of our favourite places to stay in Liverpool is at the Titanic Hotel. Located in a converted warehouse, this spacious hotel has nods to the city's boating history which combine with its modern feel.

Promotion & incentive ideas - Isle of Skye, Scotland

Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye

Isle of Skye, Scotland

The largest of Scotland's Inner Hebrides, the Isle of Skye was made to be explored. This enchanting island is home to incredible natural wonders, from the Old Man of Storr to the magical Fairy Pools. Portree is the best place to base yourself while here. It's one of the island's largest towns and gives easy access to the most popular sights. You'll need a car to get around but be sure to bring your hiking boots too. Some of the best views require a little extra effort. Portree is a great location to return to after a day of exploring. The city itself has colourful streets to wander through, a lovely harbour and excellent fish and chips.

Promotion & incentive ideas - Isles of Scilly, England

The uninhabited island of Tean in the Isles of Scilly

Isles of Scilly, England

If you're looking for a break with white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, England probably isn't the first place that springs to mind. The Isles of Scilly off the Cornish coast though, have just that. This tiny archipelago is the southernmost location in the UK and can be accessed by boat, or - if you're feeling adventurous - by seaplane. The islands are all well-connected to each other and each inhabited island offers its own beautiful beaches. If you can drag yourself away from the pristine sands, there's plenty of activities to try. You can learn to sail, try coasteering or even snorkel with the local seals.

The Bootlegger London | TripAdvisor

London, England

London may seem like an obvious choice for a UK break, but we're not going to tell you about the standard tourist attractions here. Whether you've been to the capital once, or you're in and out every day, there's bound to be places you haven't explored. Why not spend a weekend uncovering an alternative side of London? Discover a hidden speakeasy, check out a literary nightclub or make furry friends at Hackney City Farm. Whether it's something completely out of your comfort zone, or just a few days exploring new museums and new brunch spots, a weekend in the capital is always a hit.

Promotion & incentive ideas - Cornwall, England

Surfers at Polzeath in Cornwall

Cornwall, England

Cornwall's wild coastline and beautiful beaches make it one of the most popular destinations for a staycation. This diverse region has plenty of things to do to fill a week-long stay, or even longer. Be sure to get on the water while you're here. Learn to surf or try kayaking off the rugged north coast. All that activity will work up an appetite for a traditional Cornish cream tea or some classic Cornish ice cream. This area of the UK is renowned for its food. As well as sweet treats, be sure to sample fresh seafood at a local pub or at Rick Stein's Padstow restaurant.

Promotion & incentive ideas - Chester, England

The Chester Rows

Chester, England

Walking through the Roman city of Chester feels like you've taken a step back in time. The Chester Rows are lined with unique two-tier galleries, more reminiscent of medieval days than today. The Rows are home to an array of boutique shops. You could easily spend a day of your trip here discovering hidden treasures. Away from the shops, the history continues with Chester's imposing cathedral. Ascend to the top of the cathedral for the best views of the city. On sunny days, the River Dee is the perfect place to relax. Hire a rowboat or take a wander along the riverbank.

Promotion & incentive ideas - North Coast 500, Scotland

Road to Assynt on the North Coast 500

North Coast 500, Scotland

North Coast 500 is described as Scotland's answer to Route 66. As the name suggests, the road stretches for 500 miles. The route starts and ends in Inverness and explores the highlights of the North Highlands. Spot dolphins on the Black Isle, admire the craggy Stacks of Duncansby and find lochs and waterfalls in Wester Ross. Wherever you choose to stop along the route you're sure to be rewarded with an outstanding view. You'll also have the chance to sample delicious local produce and fine malt whiskies along the way.
