Over the last 10 years, technology has grown more than anyone could have anticipated and this year is no different! In 2017 we saw Apple launch the iPhone X, a range of voice-activated speakers which had us all saying "Alexa" or "OK Google", and the new and improved Fitbit Ionic. 2018 has a lot to live up to and, by the looks of it, there's going to be some big changes.

First up is the AirSelfie. This revolutionary pocket-sized flying camera connects with your smartphone to take high-res - as the name suggests - selfies. But it's more than just a drone with a camera; it actually integrates into your phone cover meaning you can keep it on you at all times. It also propels up to 20 metres in the air, capturing beautifully unique photos of the highest quality. With everyone looking to get that perfect Instagram worthy shot, it's no surprise this is tipped to be a big seller.

Next up is Golchi. Marketing itself as the "World's Most Versatile and Customizable Bottle" it definitely has a lot to live up to. It's completely interchangeable, so you can hold two different temperature beverages at once. You can also pull it apart and just take one side with you to work or out on a run! It's due to come out in April 2018, boasting 15 different features including snack storage and a 3-in-1 lid.

Last, but not least, is the AIR-33, a cool and convenient folding electric bicycle. It's a cutting-edge design, easy to carry around and even better, it's totally affordable. It's an eco-bike with a difference, giving you a better commute to work.

Travelling is top of everyone's to-do list, and 2018 sets to continue the trend to escape everyday life and start a new adventure. The average holiday spend has increased drastically over the last few years, shooting up from £1,074.60 to £1,284.54 per person in just 12 months. Let's look at three 'must-visit' destinations for this year.

Layovers are a thing of the past now, with the first direct flight linking London to Australia in just 17 hours  running in March 2018. This makes Australia more accessible than ever. It has always been a popular tourist spot, but now the footfall is set to increase even further with this new flight time! From the remote city of Perth to the hustle and bustle of Sydney harbour, you can experience life down under like never before.

Moving on to ventures a little closer to home is the jewel of the Adriatic Sea, Croatia. But more specifically, an up and coming island called Šolta. Previously only accessible by private chartered (and expensive) yachts, or organised excursions, that's all about to change with the launch of UberBOAT. With over 1,200 islands to explore you're not short of ideas, but this small and beautiful piece of heaven is perfect for those wanting to experience a part of un-touched Croatia. After sunset check out the island's array of stylish beach clubs, seaside bars, and open-air restaurants.

Now we turn to a slighter cooler climate. Lauterbrunnen encapsulates the image of a postcard-perfect village, surrounded by over 72 waterfalls. It's one of the lesser known Swedish Alps towns but is considered by many to be the most beautiful. Laid-back and full of chalet-style lodgings, Lauterbrunnen is a great destination for nature lovers wishing to experience the Alps in all their glory.

With the January blues well behind us, it's no wonder many people look ahead at what new and exciting things they can do throughout the year. Here are my top picks for 2018, as well as a personal favourite - can you guess which one it is?

Winter is coming to arenas all around the world this May as the smash hit HBO show Game of Thrones turns into a live concert. Wanting to cash in on the success of Westeros, composer Ramin Djawadi will take fans on a journey through the seven kingdoms with his critically acclaimed show. Featuring a full Orchestra, Choir and Soloists, it's sure to be spectacular. Tickets are limited, so you better get them quick.

If you're not a fan of George R R Martin, then this next one is for you - a unique Gin making experience. This spirit has made a comeback in the last couple of years, historically perceived as an outdated choice it's now had a complete revamp, with millennials searching for the newest flavour and coolest cocktail. Make your own Gin experiences have cashed in on this new demand, with more distilleries than ever popping up across the UK. Learn about the process of making Gin, take a tour and select botanicals to create your very own bottle. It's sure to quench your thirst!

Much like Gin, this quintessentially British past time has made a comeback. Afternoon Tea can be seen at most hotels, restaurants and cafés across the UK. But this year, establishments are upping their game to produce something traditional with a twist. Take for example the incredible success of the Tale As Old As Time theme that Town House at Kensington started last year to celebrate the release of the new Disney film - it was booked up almost as instantly as it came out as people were fighting their way to experience this magical event. In 2018, there are hundreds of places doing their own thing, but one that really stands out for me is sketch Afternoon Tea. Set in an incredible blush pink room, experience flavours designed to captivate your imagination with a hint of magic. The restaurant provides a stunning backdrop to delights such as Duck Egg and Watercress sandwiches and Lemon and Cardamom Battenbergs. Nothing says sophistication like an afternoon at sketch.

This year we're seeing a whole new wave of luxury hotels popping up across the UK. Weekends away (or 'staycations') are on the rise, as many Brits are looking for that little piece of tranquillity and relaxation closer to home. Here are some of the newest hotels promising unique experiences in fabulous locations.

First up is Vintry & Mercer in London - nestled right in the heart of the city. It opens its doors early this year and promises an experience like no other, where long traditions of trade and commerce come to life in a modern and contemporary style. This historic location provides a backdrop for the millennial traveller, where the traditional meets the 21st century. With 92 bespoke rooms and suites, it's definitely the new place to be in London this year.

Moving into the Home Counties, we have The Langley in Buckinghamshire. Opening in the summer it's a luxury hotel and spa set in the heart of the English countryside. It offers a level of decadence and exclusivity not often seen in older country manors, as well as exclusive dining experiences including a signature restaurant and a cosy bar specialising in the finest cognac and cigars. With 41 boutique rooms designed by Dennis Irvine Studio, it's going to be the perfect location for a quiet weekend away.

A little further north is the highly anticipated MV Fingal, set to dock next to the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh. This 'boatique' floating hotel is currently being transformed into 23-cabined rooms with gourmet dining experiences. The interior theme carries a strong 'roaring twenties' art deco flavour but promises to keep as much of the original features and character as possible. Although it doesn't have an opening date just yet, developers are aiming for Easter and the grand opening promises to be as opulent and spectacular as the hotel itself.

Overall, it looks like 2018 is shaping up to be the year of new beginnings. As we shake off the stress of Brexit and look forward to what this year has to offer, there's a never-ending pool of exciting experiences and advanced technology to keep us occupied.
