Promotion and incentive travel ideas - Top 10 most romantic hotels in the UK

Love is in the air! Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so this is the perfect moment to share our top 10 most romantic hotels from around the UK. Think Champagne hot tubs, spa treatments and glamorous dining rooms serving gourmet dishes. Whether you're seeking something low-key or high-end, there's a hotel to suit every romance-seeking traveller.

The Gilpin Hotel, Cumbria

The Gilpin Hotel and Lake House is a wonderful choice to celebrate a special occasion with a loved one. Located near Windemere in the beautiful Lake District, this hotel offers you a relaxing escape from city life.

Set in 21 acres of Cumbrian countryside, the main Gilpin Hotel features a Champagne bar and spa plus Michelin-starred fine dining. Outside resident llamas and alpacas graze the gardens, while inside there are 30 guest rooms with a gorgeously contemporary country-house vibe.

Less than a mile away, the private Lake House is available for exclusive-use hire and has 6 charming bedrooms plus a spa overlooking the lake.

Danesfield House Hotel and Spa, Buckinghamshire

This luxury hotel in Marlow-on-Thames is set in landscaped and formal gardens, with views of the River Thames and the Chiltern Hills beyond. All rooms have their own individual character, some with beautiful and traditional four poster beds, while others boast modern luxury.

Relax over afternoon tea in The Orangery, with a drink in the cocktail bar or visit the Spa Illuminata for some serious pampering. The Restaurant focusses on locally sourced produce, with menus changing seasonally.

Pennyhill Park Hotel and Spa, Surrey

Pennyhill Park Hotel and Spa is the perfect place for your next romantic getaway. Surrounded by parkland in leafy Surrey, it feels a world away from nearby London.

The sublime spa is the highlight of any stay. Featuring indoor and outdoor pools and jacuzzis, a thermal suite and a Pool View Bar, you're certainly in for a treat!

Foodies can choose between Michelin starred dining at Latymer restaurant or the "hyper-local" Hillfield which prides itself on sustainability and a farm-to-fork philosophy.

Chewton Glen, Hampshire

Chewton Glen is an iconic hotel on the edge of the New Forest. Alongside luxurious rooms, guests have the option of staying in peaceful treehouses compete with hot tubs, daily breakfast hampers and a dedicated concierge service.

The Dining Room sources much of its produce from the hotel's own kitchen garden, while the award-winning idyllic spa is a sure-fire way to relax and rejunevate. For those that like to venture a little further afield, there are both coastal and forest walks with a few minutes' drive.

The Grove, Hertfordshire

The Grove in Chandler's Cross is the former home of the Earl of Clarendon. The stylishly renovated rooms ooze luxurious comfort and some are even dog friendly, so you can even pamper your pooch this Valentine's Day!

The hotel features a prestigious championship golf course which is open to all, while the Sequoia Spa bucks the typical white trend with its dark and moody black mosiac tiled pool.

Diners are spoilt for choice, with The Stables and The Glasshouse restuarants sourcing much of their produce from the on site kitchen gardens, while sushi platters are available in the Lounges which overlook the formal gardens.

Lime Wood Hotel and Spa, Hampshire

The enchanting Lime Wood Hotel and Spa is a beautiful hotel set in a secluded location within the ancient woodland of the New Forest National Park. Romance is at the heart of this hotel… think leisurely country walks, comfy lounges with crackling fires and extensive wine lists. The elegant boutique rooms all have their own character, while the spacious Forest Lodge suites are perfect for the ultimate romantic getaway.

Lime Wood’s Herb House Spa takes inspiration from the surrounding trees. Slip into the tranquil outdoor hot pool, take a dip in the indoor lap pool or for a wonderfully pampering experience opt for a wellbeing treatment in one of the double treatment rooms. Raw & Cured offers nutritious and delicious breakfasts and lunches from within the spa, while the relaxed Hartnett Holder & Co restaurant by celebrated chefs Angela Hartnett and Luke Holder serves up Italian-inspired cuisine in the main hotel. It’s sure to make your mouth water!

The Artist Residence, Cornwall

The five Artist Residences located around England are all quaint and character-filled, but for sheer romance you can’t beat the Penzance offering. With gorgeous views of St. Michael’s Mount, this converted Georgian inn is perfectly positioned for beach walks and lingering pub lunches. The bedrooms are individually designed in a rustic chic style featuring vintage furniture and cosy furnishings.

After a day exploring the many charms of Penzance, the onsite smokehouse and bar serves up freshly caught fish and Cornish scallops alongside delicious cocktails. Well-loved by locals it is also open throughout the day for coffee pick-me-ups, hearty breakfasts and classic Sunday lunches.

Wood Hall Hotel and Spa, Yorkshire

Wood Hall Hotel and Spa in Wetherby was built in 1790 as a country home for the Scott family. It remains a stunning retreat from the world, set in Italian gardens, manicured lawns and surrounded by woodland. This dog-friendly hotel has elegant bedrooms, well equipped with fluffy bathrobes and Gilchrist and Soames toiletries. Choose one with a four poster bed to ramp up the romance.

A popular wedding venue, the hotel is a fabulous place to stay around Valentine's Day when guests can indulge in a special afternoon tea served in The Georgian Restaurant or a mouth-watering seven-course tasting menu. The petite spa is an ideal place to unwind, featuring indoor swimming and spa pools and offering a host of treatments guaranteed to promote a calm sense of wellbeing.

Blakeney Hotel, Norfolk

Set in the North Norfolk village of its namesake, The Blakeney Hotel is a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life. An hour from Norwich, this justifiably popular place has magnificent estuary views. Overlooking Blakeney Point, which has one of the largest colonies of grey sales in the UK, guests are a short stroll away from boat trips to view the local wildlife.

Inside, the 60 bedrooms are crisp and chic, with antique furniture sitting alongside modern luxury. The award-winning AA Rosette restaurant showcases locally-sourced, seasonal produce with complementary Norfolk ales, carefully selected wine and cocktails. The stylish spa is a perfect place to unwind after a day spent exploring the coastal villages with their beautiful beach walks, rockpools and seafront promenades.

Fonab Castle Hotel, Perthshire

Located in the heart of the Highlands and surrounded by some of Scotland’s most beautiful scenery and views, this five-star hotel is perfect for a romantic weekend. The individually designed rooms feature loch and mountain views, with guests choosing to stay in the original castle or the contemporary new wing. The fabulous wood-panelled Penthouse has curved ceilings and a simply enormous centrepiece bed.

Fine-dining tasting menus are on offer at Sandemans restaurant, while delicious food with an unpretentious vibe can be found at 1892 On the Loch. For an intimate supper, there are pods located in the estate which allow you to set your own playlist, mood lighting and heating for a wonderfully personalised romantic experience.
